Main Features – Subcategories

1. Scan

Scans the smartphone for malware detection and removal.

1.1 Scan
Press [Scan] to initiate scanning.

ALYac Android will then open up the Scan screen and display the Scan Path, Files Scanned, and Malicious Code Detected. To stop a scan in progress, press [Stop Scan].

To perform other tasks and have the scan complete in the background, simply press the Home button. ALYac Android will complete the scan in the background and then display “Scan has completed." on the status bar.

Once the scan is complete, press [OK] if malware has not been detected. This will return ALYac Android to its home menu.

If malware has been detected, press [Clean].

Alternatively, press [Malware Details] to view a detailed and categorized list of detected malware threats with individual action options.

Select individual malware threats and then press [Exclude] or [Clean] to exclude or clean them, respectively.

1.2 Exceptions
If a scan is in progress, stop the scan or wait until it completes and then open the Exceptions tab to view the available options.

The Exceptions tab displays a list of items that are excluded from ALYac Android’s scanning and contains options (accessible using the Home button) to remove selected entries or the entire list.

1.3 Scan Log
Open the Scan Log tab to view a list of previous scan sessions.

Select an entry from the list to view detailed information about that session and the outcome. Detailed information, however, is not available for scan sessions in which malware was detected.

2. App Management

ALYac Android rates the safety of applications installed on the smartphone using these ratings: Risk, Care, Safe, Excl(Excluded), and ?(Unverified). In addition, ALYac Android provides a separate list of potentially risky applications for easier management of smartphone security.

App Safety Rating is based on App Safety Index and Developer Safety Index, which are scored on a 5-star scale, each.

To view detailed information about security threats posed by a specific application, simply select that application from the list.

It’s possible to uninstall or exclude individual applications using [Uninstall App] and [Exclude/Include] buttons, respectively. Applications that have been excluded using the [Exclude/Include] button will not be shown in the Risky Apps tab.

If a network connection is not established from the App Management screen after installing a new application, ALYac Android will rate the installed application as Unverified.

An N badge on the [App Management] button indicates that an application update is available.

2.1 All Apps
Displays a list of all installed applications.

2.2 Risky Apps
Displays a list of applications with the risk or care rating.

2.3 Running Apps
Displays a list of currently running applications.

3. Spam Management

Allows the user to register phone numbers and keywords and block corresponding calls and text messages.

If a call or a text message from a registered spam number or a text message containing a registered keyword is received, ALYac Android blocks the call or text message and displays “Spam call blocked.” or “Spam message received.” on the status bar.

In addition, an N badge on the [Spam Management] button indicates a new spam call or text message.

3.1 Block Smishing
Protect your mobile phone by stating as "Dangerous" or "Suspicious" to smishing messages that tries to steal your personal and financial information.

Blocked messages are listed and you can delete each or the entire list.
[Report] function is supported to "Suspicious" messages, and you need to accept to transit information to report the smishing message. Collected information is only used to solve the reported issue, and they are not used in any other purpose. "Dangerous" messages does not have a reporting function.

You can set the notification screen by classification when received smishing messages.

3.2 Spam Block
Displays a list of incoming calls and text messages that have been identified as spam and blocked accordingly.

Display options include All, Phone Numbers, and Text Messages. In addition, the user may select a blocked number and then, using the Menu button, clear incoming call records associated with that number.

3.3 Spam Registration
Displays a list of registered spam numbers and keywords.

In order to prevent unnecessary memory use, spam numbers and keyword monitoring options are automatically disabled if no spam number or keyword has been registered. Once the user registers a spam number or keyword, the Settings screen will prompt.

Display options for registered spam numbers and keyword list includes All, Phone Numbers, and Keywords. In addition, it’s possible to unregister spam numbers and keywords or add new spam numbers and keywords using the menu options.

4. Update

Updates ALYac Android to its latest version.

ALYac Android updates contain the latest patterns, which is required for detecting and removing new malware threats.

An N badge on the [Update] button indicates that a new update is available.

5. Settings

5.1 Basic Settings

  • Automatically Connect to 3G/LTE
    Setting this option to [ON] configures ALYac Android to connect to 3G/LTE networks without prompting for user confirmation. Additional fees may apply for 3G/LTE network access. Default setting is [OFF].
  • Automatically Connect to Wi-Fi
    Setting this option to [ON] configures ALYac Android to connect to configured Wi-Fi networks without prompting for user confirmation. Default setting is [ON].
  • ** ALYac Android requires network access to check for updates and retrieve App Safety Rating information. If network access is required and both Automatically Connect to 3G/LTE and Automatically Connect to Wi-Fi options are set to [OFF], ALYac Android will prompt for user confirmation and then attempt to connect to the 3G/LTE network.

  • DB auto update
    In the case database auto update is turned [ON], it will automatically be updated to the latest database without the user's permission. The default setting for [Database Auto Update] is [ON]
  • ALYac Android Update Notice
    Setting this option to [ON] configures ALYac Android to notify the user of available updates via a popup window. Default setting is [ON].
  • 5.2 Scan and Application Settings

  • Scheduled Scan
    Setting this option to [ON] configures ALYac Android to automatically scan the smartphone according to a predefined schedule. The schedule can be set using the dropdown menus. The default setting is [ON], for automated scanning at noon on Sundays.
  • Scan Log Setting
    Use this option to designate how long to keep scan records for. The setting ranges from 1 month to 1 year.
  • Real-Time Protection
    Setting this option to [ON] configures ALYac Android to monitor the installed applications and notify the user of security threats in real-time. Default setting is [ON].
  • Show New Application Safety Rating
    Use this option to define which application safety ratings to be notified on. However, notifications for applications with the Dangerous rating is always on.
  • 5.3 Spam Settings

  • Guard Smishing
    Setting this option to [ON] configures ALYac Android to block Smishing messages.
  • Guard Smishing
    Setting this option to [ON] configures ALYac Android to block Smishing messages.
  • Smishing Message Guard Notification
    Use this option to define which application safety rating to be notified on.
  • Spam Monitoring
    Setting this option to [ON] configures ALYac Android to block spam.
  • Registered Spam Number Monitoring
    Setting this option to [ON] configures ALYac Android to block all incoming calls and text messages from registered spam numbers.
  • Registered Spam Keyword Monitoring
    Setting this option to [ON] configures ALYac Android to block all incoming text messages containing registered spam keywords.
  • Exclude Numbers in Contacts
    Setting this option to [ON] configures ALYac Android to allow incoming calls from all numbers in Contacts, even from those registered as a spam number.
  • Reject Blocked Caller ID
    Setting this option to [ON] configures ALYac Android to reject all incoming calls and text messages from blocked caller ID numbers.
  • Status Bar Notification
    Allows the user to enable or disable spam block notification on the status bar. However, spam block notification functions independently of spam monitoring (filtering). To deactivate Spam Block, go to Settings and set the Registered Spam Number Monitoring and Registered Spam Keyword Monitoring options to [OFF].
